2nd and 3rd Grade Internet Resources
The following list of academic resources contains web sites that our school currently uses in our 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms and which you can access at home.
Siftr: Allows students to do place-based explorations beyond the school walls. Students’ photos are geo-tagged on maps, with the ability to categorize, sort, caption and comment.
Edmodo: A communication tool used for sharing information, links and resources with students
Voice Thread: An interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables conversations around digital media. Users can add images, documents, and videos, to which other users can add voice, text, audio file, or video comments.
ScratchX: We sometimes use this version of Scratch, which allows the use of Experimental Extensions. With Experimental Extensions, you can create Scratch projects that connect with external hardware (such as electronic devices and robotics) and online resources (including web data and web services.)
Scratch: A programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world.
Xtramath: A free web program that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts.
3dTin: An online 3D modeling tool. Students can create 3-d representations and export files for 3-d printing.
Turtle Blocks: This uses a Logo-inspired turtle that draws colorful art using snap-together visual-programming blocks.
Dreambox: An online software provider that focuses on mathematics education at the elementary and middle school levels.
Storybird: A collaborative storytelling tool. Students use collections of art to be inspired to write stories.
