Posted on 11/25/2019

Congratulations to Mr. Gundlach, one of our 2/3 teachers, who has been awarded a fellowship from Field Day Lab at UW-Madison. This award recognizes his excellence in teaching and his commitment to innovation in the classroom.

As part of the fellowship, he will work as part of a team to design a new educational video game that will be used by elementary school teachers and students across the country. The game will explore the rich world of shipwrecks and underwater archaeology in the Great Lakes.

In addition, he will leverage his expertise by helping to develop an initial design blueprint and providing his insights as an expert educator. Then he will test the game with his students, providing vital feedback that will influence the game’s design.

This fellowship launches on November 10th with a celebration and design workshop in Manitowoc, WI at the Maritime Museum. At this two-day event, he will work alongside archaeologists, education theorists, public media and game designers, and other teacher fellows.

It is an honor that he will be joining a team to create something awesome that will reach kids throughout Wisconsin and beyond.

Our sincere congratulations!
