4/5 Students Explore Biomedical Engineering Field with UW Madison University Students

UW Madison students brought hands-on learning to NCS 4th and 5th grade students in the field of Biomedical Engineering.
In this first picture, students experiment with making a biomaterial.
Next, students work with LED lights and a circuit board to mimic the movement of blood through the body.

Sam Bass uses a pulse-oximeter to measure his heart rate and the amount of oxygen in his blood. Sam investigated how those numbers change as he exercises and rests.

Sydney Schultz listens to her heart and the gurgles of her stomach with the stethoscope.

Elise Benz squeezes "blood" through the "artery" to mimic the work of valves.
