Mrs. Klawiter's Cake Boss Contest

The Klawiter Kids worked with Ms. Graettinger's Culinary 1 Class to design a cake to celebrate the book, Iggy Peck, Architect.
First, to learn all about cake decorating, they visited Miller's Bakery where Rachel taught them how to frost and decorate a cake.
Then, they met their high school friends at Harriet Park to plan their cake, as well as practice using icing tips to decorate graham crackers.
Finally, in the VAHS Culinary Kitchen, they worked with their high school friends to decorate their cakes that were pre-made by the high schoolers.
The cakes were judged by two parent volunteers, our very own NCS parents- Kristin Yeager and Doug Heimerl, on Creativity, Taste, and Presentation. Even though one cake was chosen as Number 1, they were all wonderful!
The word is... lots of sugar was consumed over the course of this adventure, but that made it all the more "sweet" of a field trip!
