As part of our school's Outdoor Learning Program, our 4/5 students work with the UW Madison Forestry Club at Picnic Point. They teamed up in mid-October. During our four rotation stations, students worked with Biltmore sticks to measure the diameter of trees and to determine the amount of wood a tree would provide.  Secondly, they identified trees such as hackberry, hemlock, white oak, and paper birch. Finally, they went on a power hike and played a game called, "Predator vs. Prey."  On a 22 degree day with some snow cover and light winds, 4/5 students had a great time!
