WELCOME TO NEW CENTURY CHARTER SCHOOL!
New Century School (NCS) offers a vibrant school community. We are proud of our students, families, and staff members teaming together to advance all students’ learning to their fullest potential.
It is a New Century School tradition for learners to participate in an environmental and science-based curriculum which promotes enhanced critical thinking skills through various hands-on, project-based lessons. We expect to enhance these efforts with an exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) lessons and activities throughout the school year. It is common for learning to take place outside in our school garden, walking to local ponds, streams, prairies, etc., or taking local field trips for additional environmental studies.
NCS is organized in a multi-age configuration with two classrooms of Kindergarten/1st graders, 2nd/3rd graders, and 4th/5th graders learning together. Typically, each of the six classrooms has about 20-21 students. We find that younger students benefit from the positive role modeling older students can provide and older students benefit from the additional leadership opportunities.
NCS is governed by an active Site Council comprised primarily of parent volunteers. We welcome and encourage volunteers to support our efforts and the everyday operations at NCS.
