March 14 marks a special math day: 3.14… the first digits of Pi. Students in 5th grade math in Mrs. Konop's room continued a seven year tradition of celebration! We discovered what Pi really is (think circumference and diameter) through a measuring activity, we ate pie, of course, we looked at the digits of pi, and we added to our 1000 digit Pi chain! Each digit in the Pi chain is represented by colors...so this chain wraps around the room about two times now! Students had a lot of fun...something to look forward to when you reach 5th grade math!
