NCS 2/3 Classes learn about population density from architect Josh Johnson

Our second and third graders had a visit from architect Josh Johnson today and he taught them about population density.  They looked at population density maps of the United States, located dense areas, and compared states, cities, sections of the United States.  They discussed how to fit a lot of people into a small amount of space.  He had them move blocks, representing buildings, into a rectangular shaped doughnut with green space in the middle where you could play.  Then they discussed where you would put green space if you built a skyscraper.  How about on top of it?  It was a very interesting time of thinking and discussion for the students with our architect.
