NCS Students Learn About Recycling and Engineering Through After-School STEM Program

For the past eight weeks, NCS students met on Monday afternoons after school for a STEM Program called "Go Green: Engineering Recycled Racers" where they used recycled materials to make a race car and a race track too.  Through this program, they learned about engineering and recycling.  They focused on the Engineering Design Process, which asks what the problem is and then imagines, plans, creates and improves a solution for the problem.  The students worked in groups and chose one or more characteristics for their car, such as if they wanted their race car to be fast, be able to carry a lot of weight, to go over different terrains, …  Then they proceeded to build a car that met these characteristics.
