On Nov. 24, our NCS 2nd and 3rd grade students shared their projects at the Madison Mini Maker Faire at the Monona Terrace! Many in the community and from NCS came to look at their booths.
Why are we a part of this Faire? It brings the NCS community together outside of school--kids, families, teachers. It provides the opportunity for our students to take pride in their work and to communicate with the public. It involves project that combine STEM and Literacy, also with a focus on Service Learning (helping those with visual impairments). And, it makes people in the Madison-area aware of New Century School.
What are some comments our 2/3 students said about being a part of the Faire? It is about "being brave" (Quinn), "needing to use "ice breakers" to get people to come to your booth" (Violet), "having fun sharing your project" (Flynn), "being kind" (Seth), "getting prepared and ready" (Tova and Jozsef), "testing beforehand" (Nora), and "showing off our hard work" (Holly and Isa).
Congratulations to our 2/3 students on all they put into creating and then sharing their projects! Many thanks to Mr. Gundlach and Ms. Bennett for their extra efforts to make this opportunity possible for our students!
